With the rise of non-fungible tokens, ownership of digital assets is a growing phenomena. You can currently purchase unique identifiers for digital assets, ranging from NBA highlights to tweets on the blockchain. However, this scarcity is artificial and ownership will not persist in copied versions of the asset.

Interleaver establishes proof of ownership of audio digital assets using the novel technique of converting an audio file to an inaudible frequency, above 20Hz, and interleaving it with another audio file. In signal processing, interleaving is the process of combining multiple signals, represented by strings of bits, into a single block of data. The inaudible portion of the song will be picked up by microphones when the song is played and the identically sounding, combined audio file will be used as the official release of the song.

Product Description

Creators will post their upcoming songs, or snippets of upcoming songs, to our platform. Less popular artists will likely have to release more of the song in order to secure funding. An announcement will be sufficient for established artists. Patrons will pay for their recorded audio to be included in a section of the official digital version of the song, essentially buying that portion of the song. Once a transaction is complete, the service will interleave the two audio files and return a copy to both the artist and the patron. The maximum of our frequency threshold (24kHz) is picked up by microphones so recording will not decay the proof of ownership. We will also provide the ability to extract the audio from songs, in the form of mp3 files, for verification purposes.

Artists will set prices based on what section of the song is being purchased, how anticipated the release is, and the length of the section being purchased. They will also be able to hear the ownership audio segments and retain veto power.

Patrons participate to support their favorite artists and provide time stamped proof of their music tastes. Artists have monetary incentive to participate. Future implementations will allow interleaving messages with already released songs. Streaming platforms will replace the original file with the interleaved audio file so that future plays of the song would include the extractable, ownership audio. Additionally, ownership of songs, or snippets, would be transferable, creating a market environment.
